Background

PRTPO is responsible for reviewing and ranking the Consolidated Grant applications submitted to WSDOT as part of its biennial call for projects. Each proposal is evaluated for its alignment with the region’s drafted Human Services Transportation Plan (HSTP). The rankings assigned by PRTPO generate bonus points that are added to project scores within WSDOT’s statewide competitive funding process. These rankings serve as one input that WSDOT considers when developing its Consolidated Grant funding recommendations to the Legislature. In the 2026 cycle, WSDOT received 14 applications from service providers in the Peninsula Region for PRTPO’s evaluation.

The PRTPO Technical Advisory Committee will hold a work session on November 19 to review and rank the submitted projects. Each of the fourteen applications will be assessed for consistency with the HSTP and assigned a ranking grade. For this funding cycle, PRTPO has a total of eight A rankings, seven B rankings, and seven C rankings available for distribution.

The Executive Board will review the TAC’s recommended rankings at its December 18 meeting. Following that review, the Board will transmit its formal project ranking recommendation to WSDOT and will amend all ranked projects into the Human Services Transportation Plan.
